A brightly decorated Ironstone bowl by the Mason's pottery. Covered in colourful flowers and pheasants, just lovely!
This chinoiserie pattern is called "Flying Bird" and is vividly hand painted over a printed blue outline with typical bold enamels of cobalt blue, burnt orange, green, yellow, mauve and red all in various shades and with additional hand gilded highlights.
This pattern is illustrated on page 121 of "A Guide to Mason's Patent Ironstone Patterns", published by The Mason's Collectors' Club. There is a Mason's round crown and banner blue printed mark to the base, indicating a late 19th century date.
