A rare antique biscuit tin produced for Huntley & Palmers in 1936.
This charming design is known as Hunting and is one of the scarcer Huntley & Palmers patterns. The tin is decorated to resemble a small wooden box, complete with wood-grain detailing and enamelled panels to the lid.
The central oval panel shows a traditional fox hunting scene, while the side panels feature beautifully illustrated hunting motifs. One side displays a riding hat, crop and hunting horn, while the other shows a fox's head with two brushes.
The sides of the tin continue the wooden box effect, with simulated graining and small carved-style floral details. This same Hunt pattern was also used on an inkstand-shaped tin, making it a particularly interesting design for collectors.
The base is marked with the Huntley & Palmers name against a simulated wood-grain ground.
A lovely and increasingly hard-to-find example of 1930s Huntley & Palmers packaging, ideal for collectors of antique tins, country sporting pieces or decorative kitchenalia.
