A beautiful large mid 20th century, machine made, soft wool rug made in Belgium that reportedly came from Chatsworth House in Bakewell, Derbyshire. Due to its softness, this was probably used as an elaborate table cloth on a grand table or, as a throw on a sofa or chair. But, it could still be used as a rug if desired.
The rug came from my Father's old stock together with a note giving it's pedigree. The note written in Dad's hand, stated that it was purchased in an estate auction at Chatsworth House. We can't say for sure if that is true as unfortunately he passed away and there is no way of checking, hence it is being sold without providence.
There is a very small hole that is barely visible to the naked eye and a run in another small section. Please do take a look at the photographs. These blemishes have no effect on the overall look of the carpet.
The colours pallet is of brick reds, deep navy blues and creamy whites working perfectly together in a beautiful pattern that oozes country house style.
